Urine entering the bladder of a mare

Keywords: urine, bladder, ultrasound, mare, equine

Image size: 640 x 480px

A transrectal ultrasonographic view of urine entering the bladder of a mare. In most cases, urinary sediment allows one to see the turbulent entrance of urine (arrow) into the bladder. This occurs every minute or two. The real importance of this image however, is to illustrate how well urinary sediment and by extension uroliths, can be seen with ultrasound.
